Sources have speculated that the reason for the split was the distance put between them while Markle was on location in Toronto filming Suits.

According the The Sun, Engelson was heartbroken by the split and devastated by the news that Markle was engaged to Prince Harry.

But Engelson found new love with dietitian Tracey Kurland, 31, in 2017, and she helped him get over the breakup. Ms Kurland is based in LA and she and Trevor are thought to have become serious during a trip together to Italy last year.

Engelson has declined to comment to press about his relationship with Markle, but is said to be developing a TV series about a divorcee who remarries a prince and shares custody of a child from her first marriage.
