According to a witness, the fight went viral on TikTok and began after an argument about a boat blocking the mooring space of another vessel. The situation quickly escalated when one man, believed to be a riverboat employee, got into a confrontation with two others, leading to violence. More people joined in, resulting in a chaotic and violent brawl. Some were thrown into the water, chairs were smashed over heads, and others were beaten on the ground.
During the fight, someone from a nearby boat jumped into the water to join in, adding to the mayhem. The police were called around 7 pm on a Saturday to handle the disturbance. Several individuals were detained, and charges are pending, though their identities have not been released yet.

Numerous witnesses recorded the incident on their phones and posted it online, with some even taunting the participants. One disturbing moment showed a woman being struck on the head with a chair, and the person responsible was later apprehended by the authorities.
In another video, a group of men can be seen approaching another group on a boat, and the fighting escalated once again. Later, a photo emerged showing some of the men involved sitting on the pontoon in handcuffs. Montgomery Mayor Steven L.
