Judy Farrell was an American actress known for her role as Nurse Able on the television comedy series M*A*S*H. Judy Farrell Biography
Judy Farrell grew up in Quapaw, Oklahoma and as a child had a keen interest in theatre. To pursue her passion, she obtained a fine arts degree in theatre from Oklahoma State University and then went on to study for a master’s degree at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where she met Mike Farrell, an actor who would later become her spouse.
After completing her education, Farrell taught English and Drama at Laguna Beach High School in California while also pursuing her own acting career. In the 1960s, she and Mike performed together at the Laguna Playhouse. Despite their divorce in the early 1980s, they remained friends and continued to work together on various projects, including the beloved TV series MAS*H.

Farrell’s portrayal of Nurse Able on MAS*H, which aired from 1972 to 1983, is one of her most memorable performances. Nurse Able was a recurring character, and Farrell’s talent and dedication made her a fan favourite. The show’s creators even incorporated elements of her personal life, such as her hometown and her daughter’s name, into the script.
Aside from MAS*H, Farrell also appeared in numerous other TV series, including The Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Partridge Family, and The Love Boat. She later took on the role of a writer for the soap opera Port Charles, contributing 13 episodes.

Despite her success on screen, Farrell remained passionate about teaching, and she continued to teach acting classes throughout her career. She was also actively involved in charitable work, supporting organizations that helped victims of domestic violence.
Unfortunately, on April 2, 2023, Farrell passed away at the age of 84 due to complications of a stroke.
