Born Casandra Elizabeth Cassie Ventura, she is an American singer, songwriter, model, actress, and dancer born in 1986 in New London, Connecticut, as the daughter of a mother of African-American, Mexican, and West Indian descent and a Filipino father.

On November 16, 2023, she filed a lawsuit against Combs for “rape and repeated physical abuse over about a decade.” The lawsuit was filed in the Federal District Court in Manhattan under the Adult Survivors Act, a New York law that allows people who say they were victims of sexual abuse to file civil suits after the statute of limitations has expired.
