Daniel Kaluuya is a British actor. Prominent both on screen and stage, he has received numerous accolades, including an Academy Award, two BAFTA Awards, and a Golden Globe Award.
Kaluuya was born to Ugandan parents on February 24th, 1989 in London. Along with an elder sister, his mother reared him in Camden Town on a council estate. Prior to the age of 15, he had no communication with his father, who lived in Balaka, Malawi.
Kaluuya attended St. Aloysius’ College in Highgate and Torriano Primary School. Later, in the coed sixth form at Camden School for Girls, he studied biology, drama, and history for A-levels. When Kaluuya was nine years old, he created his first play and later started doing improvisational theatre. At the local WAC Arts and Anna Scher Theatre School, he started performing as a child.

When he was a teenager, Kaluuya started acting in improvised theater. He co-wrote some of the episodes for the first two seasons of the television show Skins (2007–2009), in which he portrayed Posh Kenneth.
In 2010, at the Royal Court Theatre, Kaluuya received accolades for his portrayal as the lead in Sucker Punch. He then became well-known for his television appearances in the Doctor Who special episode “Planet of the Dead” (2009), Psychoville (2009–2011), “The Fades” (2011), and “Fifteen Million Merits” (2012) of the Black Mirror series. The movies Johnny English Reborn (2011), Kick-Ass 2 (2013), Sicario (2015), and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023) also featured him in minor parts.
